More About Cripple Creek:

Cripple Creek is known as a historic gambling and mining town. The scenery from the high elevation of 9494′ is simply breathtaking with its incredible views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain range.  Cripple Creek was once one of the largest cities in Colorado with about 50,000. It now has a population of around 1200 and is known for the occasional wild donkey roaming the streets of downtown left over from the minors of old. Cripple Creek was put on the map by Bob Womack, who after searching for fifteen years, finally discovered gold in 1890 in Poverty Gulch, which later became the town of Cripple Creek.  Cripple Creek now houses several casinos, as well as restaurants, shops, and hotels.
